City council meeting minutes – Jan 2, 2024

January 2, 2024

 

The meeting was called to order by Council President Rob Waletzko. Council Members present Julie Cole, Ken Williams, LyDell Mairs and Ben Gemar. Guests present were Eric King, Tim Jordan, Jeff Leadbetter, Kevin Bishop, Ryan Lyons, Teresa Haecherl, Charles Bowman, Charlie Bowman, Ann Bowman, Brittany Hatting, Sheyenne Waletzko, Adam Schultz,  Lynn Kaspari – Ransom County Gazette, and Janna Miller; Jerry Gemar via Zoom. Lisbon Fire Department members present: Tim Kennedy, Neil Olerud, Darrin Anderson, Mike Nims, Jason Dick, Zach Stulz and John Lux

To approve the minutes from December 4, 2023 meeting with change to Offsite permit date.                                             All Aye

 

Rob addressed unfinished business of the county roads in discussion. At this time, there has been no agreement reached and Jeff Leadbetter has requested additional information from the county.

 

Charles and Ann Bowman were present with their attorney, Brittany Hatting, to discuss the request for tax abatement. The Bowman’s gave a brief history regarding the purchase of their home at 1011 Westwoods Dr as well did their attorney give some taxation background. Discussion was had between City council and the City’s tax assessor, Teresa Haecherl. Bowmans are requesting $3000 abatement of 2022 taxes.

Eric gave an update of well #2, waiting for electricity hook up. Eric is looking into getting quotes for a new computer system to replace the SCADA system in the water plant.

Jason Dick, Lisbon Fire Chief gave the department’s annual report for 2023.
