Winter weather – delivery requirements
The USPS would like to remind everyone that during the winter season your mail carriers are only able to deliver where the roads are clear, and it is safe to do so.
Also, if your carrier cannot safely reach your mailbox from their vehicle due to heavy accumulation of snow, your daily delivery service may be temporarily suspended.
In order to deliver the approach to your mailbox needs to be cleared of snow 15 feet on both sides. To further guarantee delivery of your oversized packages you will also need to keep a path clear to your preferred delivery location.
As always, providing the best customer service experience possible is our goal. However, maintaining our employees’ safety in the process is our number one priority.
This winter season has made that priority particularly challenging. As you know our carriers have been fighting excess snow, wind, and extreme cold this year. This often results in unsafe road conditions for the carriers that are making attempts to travel on those roads without knowing the conditions from one day to the next. The result is our carriers are finding themselves stuck in remote areas with little to no help and battling extreme wind chills.
We are asking that every rural customer that knows the current road conditions are unsafe to please contact your local Post Office and let our carriers know that they should not travel on that road.

If your carrier normally must turn around at your mailbox to continue their route, please be sure they have enough room to maneuver safely without risking getting stuck due to narrow roads. If you are often home or in the general area and are able to assist our carriers should they find themselves stuck we would also appreciate if you would give them a number to reach out to you for help.
We would like to thank everyone that has already helped us through this difficult season so far and appreciate your understanding as we try to navigate our way safely through what is yet to come.
