City council meeting minutes – July 1, 2024

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Tim Meyer at 7:07pm.  Council Members present LyDell Mairs, Ben Gemar, Julie Cole, Rob Waletzko, Sandy Hoff and Jordan Matzke. Guests present were Eric King, Jerry Gemar, Ken Williams, Kevin and Heather Bergemann, Jay Anderson, Jeff Leadbetter, Lynn Kaspari – Ransom County Gazette, Janna Miller, Jon Oien, Augustine David and Dylan Thomes.

To approve the minutes from June 3 meeting.                                                                                                                             All Aye

 

Jay Anderson gave an update on the Red River Valley Water supply project. There will be a meeting set up to update the new council members on this project.

 

Tim Meyer and Janna gave an update on the Lukes property acquisition. This is on the agenda for the Aug 8 water commission meeting.

 

An update was given that due to the Highway 27 project starting in August, the Hi-Way Rollers car show will need to be moved from Main St (Highway 32) for this year.

To grant 50% reimbursement for sidewalk installation at 109 4 Ave E pending Jerry Gemar’s review of the project. Amount is $3,350.

 

Jerry Gemar made the council aware of 2 condemnations he is in the process of. They are at 606 Harris St and 902 Prospect St.

To instruct Jeff to obtain a warranty deed for the property at 902 Forest St.

To hire Moore Engineering to survey and provide a certificate of elevation on the LBJ lots for the quoted amount of $4,000.

Chief Jon Oien swore in new officers, Augustine David and Dylan Thomes.

Kristina let the council know that the preliminary budget for 2025 is due to the county by Aug 10.

 

Rob Waletzko gave a brief update for the new council members regarding the projects Moore Engineering is working on.
